The cruciform plan of Michelle's House allows the single parent some privacy from her children. The children share the longer west wing and the mother's room is in the truncated east wing. Bisecting the two wings is the main communal family area with kitchen and living area. This area is celebrated by a steeply angling ceiling that raises from 8 feet over the kitchen area to some 25 feet as it projects towards the tall pine forest.
